5 things to do in the South Bay for 4th of July

The 4th of July is a quintessential American holiday, and what better way to celebrate than down by the beach! Here in the South Bay, we are blessed with beautiful cities like Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. These picturesque places provide countless activites to keep you occupied over the 4th of July holiday. Here are some of our recommendations for the big day, and the days leading up to the holiday.

1. Fireworks at Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach

The Redondo Pier Association is committed to providing FREE community events throughout the year, including one of Southern California's longest-running kite festivals, summer concert series, chalk art festival, classic car show, holiday concert and monthly yoga meet-ups!

On Sunday, July 1, there is a major fireworks show inside Redondo Beach’s Seaside Lagoon which will be visible from the Pier and Harbor areas and will feature live music and all-day entertainment. With budget cuts canceling the traditional huge firework shows at Wilson Park in Torrance, the Redondo show will be one of the largest in southern California. The Redondo Beach Independence Day Celebration at Seaside Lagoon starts at 2pm with many activities for kids and families including live bands, arts/crafts, workshops, water activities, dancing, food & beverage and more! Fireworks show will begin at 9pm, choreographed to patriotic music. Tickets available here.

These concerts are free and well attended; early arrival to obtain prime lawn seating is encouraged.

The City of Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Commission, together with the Manhattan Beach City Council, are honoring and thanking the military service and sacrifice of the South Bay men and women in uniform and their families who have served their country. Honor them at the fourth annual Salute to the Troops Picnic and Concert on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Polliwog Park Amphitheater. Navy Band Southwest is one of the Navy’s finest and oldest continuing musical organizations.
